Together we gave voice to our stories

Jenna Reed, G. Lynn Campbell Library Lead, served us tea. Demonstrating a process to identify the stories of our lives, I used two chapters from FATHERless, my Father's Memoir and Mine. One was Inventing the Actual. The other was Bless Your Heart. From my Piece to Peace Cancer Quilt book I shared the introduction, The Quilt Backing. Today participants wrote short paragraphs of individual life events. One recalled her retirement party, sharing her joy. Another described her first military leave to come home for Christmas. A musician told us that a silent man in a nursing home softly sang along with the dulcimer group as they played lively songs.
