Events (including The Women)
Join me when the Algonac Community Theatre presents The Women on March 14, 2019 at 7 pm, March 15 at 7 pm, and March 16 at 2 pm at the Washington Life Center, 403 N Mary Street, Marine City Michigan 48039. Tickets are $10 at the door.
The thirty roles are all played by women of varied ages and social status, but the production relies on women, men, boys, and girls. I have a small part in this modern classic written by Claire Boothe Luce. Students from Algonac High School, Holy Cross, and Cardinal Mooney, as well as Marine City and St Clair High Schools make for a multigenerational cast and crew. Skilled men, women, and boys created the scenes and handle the props. The Algonac Community Theatre has a long history of awarding college scholarships to students upon high school graduation.
Playgoers see an outstanding art fair from their seats in front of the stage. Come. Support visual and performing arts at a center which nurtures our community. The work of talented artists and crafters is available in the gift shop as is my book, FATHERless, My Father’s Memoir and Mine.
The St Clair County Council on Aging leaders offer many opportunities. April Gould, at the Port Huron Center, asked me to give the free presentation on 3/5/19 on mining memories and to demonstrate an overview of genograms. How I enjoyed interacting with the fascinating participants! During the week of 3/18/19 Kevin Batchelder, at the Washington Life Center, will record your life story without charge between noon and 4 pm. Please phone him to reserve a date and time at 810 765-3523. At Kevin’s request on 3/19/19 at noon I’ll be at the Washington Life Center to assist you in mining your memories to record your life story.
On 3/16/19 I’ll give two events at SC4 Free College Day. On 04/17/19 I’ll present at McLaren Port Huron, and on 04/18/19 at the Port Huron Branch of the St Clair Library System. The Hope Blooms Fundraising Dinner for Hunter Hospitality House is on 4/27/19 at the Port Huron Convention Center where I’ll speak of their kindness and comfort. In FATHERless, My Father’s Memoir and Mine, I wrote about the respite the Hunter Hospitality House provided for me and mine when my husband was in surgery.
